Life in Kampala

March 17, 2011 - Leave a Response

Kampala is such a lovely city that brings together all sorts of confusion in planning of the city is concerned. I started with the negative but the positives in Kampala just outweigh the former. until start of this week the city has been experiencing one of the worst dry seasons far from the known notion of the city receiving raining throughout the year. Back to the brighter side, people in my city are so friendly ready and most time willing to offer a helping hand however with something 4 something in their minds at times.

Tuesday 15 the clouds opened and they smiled at my city and uhhhmmm! the “sweetest” in Kampala is whenever it rains. Getting home becomes a story to tell the next day as everyone switches their mind to their “home sweet home”. The matatus the common means of transport in my city, become a coveted Jewell this being the case anyone who wants to make some quick backs as long as he has any means of fast transport joins the race for the “gold.” The numbers going home usually out numbers the matatus and on this rainy cold evening I patiently and hopefully waited at the matatu (bus) stop and having rained and the waited having gone on for close to 30 minutes, my hope started dwindling. Before i could decide on what i was planning there came a private van not the matatu this was my savior for the evening I hopped in the co-driver’s sit. A few minutes of driving my eyes landed on this notice that read:

I read this and I came to love my city more though at same time I was thinking I am a private passenger? I am I going to be rewarded? To be continued…

What is mentoring?
Oxford University Press dictionary (OUPD) defines a mentor as an experienced and trusted adviser trains and counsels new employee or students. Can we learn anything from the Eagle

February 16, 2011 - Leave a Response

I have on so many occasions read about the eagle bird, the bird with the longest life span in all the bird species. Many have written about this awesome creature, and I always used to wonder why America, considered the most powerful nation has got it on her emblem. This great bird has an amazing life which all of us can pick a leaf from, from its strong and outstanding characteristics to its way of survival is all amazing. One has to read and keep reading and then the appreciation of this  will be inevitable.

eagle's way

In our lives either as entrepreneurs or employees, we can in one way or many relate to the eagle for example eagles way of training their younger ones relates to us being mentored which i think all us should do: either mentor someone or have a mentor. As the eagle soars highest in the skies so should we in all we do make the sky out limit-exploit all our potentials maximally. Lets keep learning, unlearning and re-learning.

Mustard Seed

The mustard seed is the smallest of all shrabs but grows up to be one of the biggest in the wilderness. In business starting small especially for small businesses is vital. The biggest thing you need t start point is your passion together with other attributes will lead to steady growth. Like plants if not all start with a seed and then germinates sprouts and the rest becomes history so is starting smart. Just as the plant-mustard seed encounters harsh conditions, you will also inevitable encountered challenges but take heart these will only make you better.

A new day

When I woke up this morning I did not have guarantee that I would live to see this very minute. I had hope though that the creator’s will will be done. Many at times the same happens when we reach a point in our lives when things seem stuck when all things elude you. The situation forces you between a rock and a hard place. But hope is all it takes to survive this mental and emotional crunch, like I woke up having no guarantee for writing this but did hope that live will get better as long I keep doing my best and learning from my yesterday’s challenges and failures.

Get on and start zooming and busting with HOPE for no condition is yet to be permanent, the next minute might just be the one that will change your life forever.
